Aakash Chopra Chooses Between Yashasvi and Gaikwad For India’s T20 WC Squad: In the recent T20I series, which was held between India vs Australia, India played well and won the series againstAustralia by winning 4 out of 5 matches.

In these games, many names came out about their playing, and Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad were in the front line as they both batted at the top of the order in all five games. So Aakash Chopra computes Yasaswi Jaiswal is a little ahead of Gaikwad in the openers berth in India’s T20 World Cup.

As  Rohit Sharma and Subhuman Gill are resting after World Cup 2023, the T20I series is concluded with Yashasvi and Gaikwad as opener batsmen for all five matches.

Aakash Chopra believes that Gaikwad is slightly less compared to Yashasvi Jaiswal for opener berth in India’s T20 World Cup. These youngsters secured their places in India’s T20 World Cup squad for their upcoming South Africa tour.

Recently when Aakash Chopra was asked about his first choice between Yashasvi and Gaikwad, in a video released on his YouTube channel, he said that,

“I am thinking about a left-right combination. I feel it has more importance in T20s because you have only six (powerplay) overs and you have to maximize them.

There is no doubt you can have two right-handers, Shubman (Gill) and Rohit (Sharma) have been playing together. Rohit and Ruturaj can also play together.”

He also added by saying that,

“There is no problem with that but there is an advantage with left-right. In ODIs, you have time, you can play one or two overs cautiously. You need to start in T20s like Vande Bharat Express or the Shatabdi.

Then you have brighter chances to post a huge total. So Yashasvi looks slightly ahead to me.”

With the conversation above we can see that Aakash Chopra voes for Yashasvi than Gaikwad. And then after that, he said,

“However, it (the T20 World Cup) is still six months away. You need an extremely good IPL. If that is not good, all the talk will be worthless. I feel Yashasvi Jaiswal.”

“Ruturaj Gaikwad – outstanding cricketer. He is part of all three formats for the South Africa tour but if I see only the T20 format, I feel Yashasvi is slightly ahead because of the way he plays,” he stated.

If we look at the strike rate of both Gaikwad and Yashaswi, Yashawi has the highest strike rate of 163.61 in 14 innings with 625 runs, whereas the strike rate of Gaikwad is 147.50 for 15 innings with 590 runs.
