Not Hardik Pandya! Rashid Khan Named a Player Gujarat Titans Are Missing in IPL 2024

Rashid Khan revealed that Gujarat Titans are missing the services of their ace pacer Mohammed Shami in the IPL 2024 season. Shami hasn’t played competitive cricket since the 2023 ODI World Cup final match against Australia as he has been struggling with injuries.

Shami will also miss the upcoming T20 World Cup to be played in the USA and West Indies. The Gujarat Titans have won three games and lost as many in the 17th season of the IPL. Rashid Khan said that Mohammed Shami’s bowling made things easier for him and other Gujarat bowlers during the middle overs.

“Shami is a vital part of our GT squad. His effectiveness with both new and old balls has made my job and the jobs of other bowlers easier, especially in the middle overs,” said Rashid in an interview with PTI.

Mohammed Shami won the purple cap last year after he completed with 28 scalps. Overall, he is second in the list of leading wicket-takers for GT with 48 wickets to his name from 33 matches at an economy rate of 8.01 with 2 four-wicket hauls.

GT, who are ranked 6th in the points table, have had difficulties, but Rashid Khan was pleased with the player’s willingness to step up and offer support during a difficult moment. In addition, he praised the GT bowlers for filling in for Shami.

“We are happy with our bowling unit, but sometimes results don’t go our way. We started our campaign with an upbeat attitude and every player is taking charge. Making the right choices at the proper moment is crucial in T20. Mohit (Sharma) bhai, Spencer Johnson, Darshan Nalkande, Azmat (Omarzai), Umesh (Yadav), and most importantly, Mohit (Omarzai) have all delivered,” Rashid continued.

Shubman Gill leading GT will next play against Rishabh Pant’s DC on Wednesday, April 17 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
