ICC Bans West Indies Star Cricketer

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released an official statement on the ban of a player on November 23 (Thursday). A total of 6 years ban was imposed on him. The ban is going to be on West Indies star Plyer and two-time World Cup winner Marlon Samuels. He was found guilty of breaching the Emirates Cricket Board’s Anti-Corruption Code.

Earlier, ICC had charged a total of four charges in September 2021 and he was then found guilty of those offences in August 2023. The 6-year ban on Marlon Samuels will start on November 11, 2023. He will be thrown away from all kinds of cricket game-related activities until 2029.

ICC’s Stand on the Ban of Cricketer

Alex Marshall, the head of ICC HR and Integrity Unit, emphasized that Samuels, who played international cricket for almost 20 years, was well aware of his obligations under the Anti-Corruption Codes. He also stated that he has actively participated in anti-corruption sessions during his career.

“Samuels played international cricket for close to two decades, during which he participated in numerous anti-corruption sessions and knew exactly what his obligations were under the Anti-Corruption Codes,” Alex Marshall, the head of ICC’s HR and Integrity Unit, said as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.
