Irfan Pathan’s Blunt Take on 3 Captains For South African Tour: A few days back BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) announced that they are going to appoint three separate captains for three different formats and they also announced the names of those captains too.

But it was opposed by Irfan Pathan as he was not pleased with three different captains.

For the upcoming tour of South Africa, as the Indian team has three different formats, BCCI has decided to keep three different captains for 3 formats. And in the same way, they announced Rohit Sharma as a captain for the Test matches.

Surya Kumar Yadav will lead the team in the T20I series, and ODIs will be led by KL Rahul. This decision has also had a large impact due to the unavailability of Hardik Pandya. As he got injured in the ODI he got dismissed from the match.

BCCI has also announced the names of the cricketers who are going to participate under these captains.

But all this was not pleased by Irfan Pathan with the decision taken by the team management to go with three captains. Pathan spoke to Star Sports and said,

“This could be a sign for the future, which I am not a big fan of. There has been talk for a long time about whether we can do split captaincy. It’s true workload management has been done here and that is why you are seeing such big squads and different captains,”

“It’s clear that Rohit had to take a break from white-ball cricket, so you are not seeing him there. You are seeing him as the captain of Test cricket.

However, you might see these things going forward. You might even see different coaches for different formats. I believe it’s better if it doesn’t happen in our culture.”
