The Indian Premier League mini-action for the next season will be held in Dubai on December 19, the Indian Cricket Board BCCI confirmed on Sunday, December 3. This will be the first time the IPL 2024 auction will be held in foreign countries.

A total of 1166 players have registered for the IPL auction which will be the last mini-auction before next year’s mega auction. 77 slots available to grab and 30 of them will be for overseas players. The 10 franchises can collectively spend Rs 262.95 crores in the auction process.

As per the report, ODI World Cup-winning Australian players including Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, and Pat Cummins are participating in the auction. All of them set their base price at Rs 2 crores while New Zealand’s young all-rounder Rachin Ravindra will be available for a base price of Rs 1.50 crore. Rachin caught the attention of IPL teams with his sensational performance in the World Cup, scoring 543 runs and taking 5 wickets in 10 matches.

The IPL organising committee will trim the list of players and update the shortlisted player’s list at the auction in the coming days. The deadline for the retention of payers was on November 26 with teams actively releasing players. The trade window is still open and will close on December 12, one week before the mini-auction.

IPL 2024 trading window saw one of the most historic transfers in the league as Hardik Pandya moved from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians in a cash deal. Mumbai Indians also traded Australian all-rounder Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Banglore. All ten teams retained a total of 173 players on November 26.

After the Hardik Pandya trade, GT will have a maximum purse of Rs 38.15 crore while CSK and DC have Rs 31.4 crore and Rs 28.95 crore respectively.
