Mohammed Shami Seeking Treatment From Sports Orthopaedic Mumbai For Ankle Injury

Indian bowler Mohammed Shami consulted sports orthopaedic in Mumbai to seek ankle injury treatment. He was suffering from an ankle injury at the end of the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. He has not been included in the white-ball series against South Africa, and his involvement in the two-match Test series is subject to his recovery from the condition.

BCCI mentioned in a statement while naming the India squad for the white ball series, Shami is presently undergoing medical treatment and his availability is subject to fitness. He is also not part of the ongoing T20I series against Australia. Shami played an important role in the second half of the World Cup campaign as a wicket-taker.

Mohammed Shami completed the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets at an economy rate of 5.70 and an impressive strike rate of 12.70 as the Indian team finished as runner-up, losing just a final match against Australia.

Fans got to know about Shami’s ankle injury after BCCI announced the Team India squad for the white-ball series against South Africa. A star was in front of his name, which revealed that the pacer is undergoing medical treatment and his availability is subject to fitness.

Mohammed Shami needs medical attention for his ankle condition, which isn’t an injury issue. He is undergoing treatment in Mumbai and after that, he will be going to NCA for rehabilitation.
Speaking to PTI, BCCI stated that, “It is not exactly an on-field injury. It is an ankle condition that has developed. Shami came to Mumbai to consult the doctors. He will also go to NCA for rehab and recuperation work. The national selectors wouldn’t have selected him had there not been a chance of him getting fit in time for the Boxing Day Test.”

Shami was last seen during the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023. He ended the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets. He was the main reason for India’s consecutive win in CWC. But they finally lost against Australia.
