ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year 2023: Nominations Include Ashwin, Joe Root Alongside Two Australian Stars
Nominations Include Ashwin, and Joe Root Alongside Two Australian Stars: Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin was selected for ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year 2023 along with other four International stars.
This list of nominees selected for Test Cricketer of the Year was filled with Australian stars, but Ashwin is the one from India selected for the Award.
Ashwin is the Only Indian in Nominations for ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year 2023
The Chennai-born off-spinner has taken 23 wickets in 4 matches, to help India to retain the Border – Gavaskar Trophy. In 2023, Ashwin took 41 wickets in 7 tests in India.
And even in the Australia and India match test series, Ashwin took the highest wicket-taker with 114 wickets. And this is not his nomination for this award, this is his third nomination and he won ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year in 2016.
Till now, Barring Ashwin, England’s Joe Root, and Australia’s Usman Khawaja and Travis Head have been nominated in the 5-member list.
And if you see Travis head he is also nominated for the series and he won the player of the match in the WTC final, and this year is his best calendar year after his debut.
He was also excellent in tests in 2023 with 919 runs in 12 matches. The third nominee was his teammate Usman Khawaja, who had an equaling rewarding year in tests in 2023.
The fourth and final nominee was England’s ace batter Joe Root. He has scored 787 runs and took 8 wickets in 8 Test matches in 2023.

India’s Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, Australia’s Pat Cummins, and Travis Head, all these four were selected for the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2023.
