Australian Captain Pat Cummins clinch ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for December 2023

Australian captain Pat Cummins won the prestigious ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for December 2023. Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma have been bestowed with the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for December 2023.

Pat Cummins played a key role in Australia’s successful year across all formats and also secured the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for his stellar performance in victorious Test series against Pakistan.

Cummins outshone his competitors, Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips and obtained ICC Player of the Month award for the first time in his career.

This achievement has further solidified Aussies dominance in the Men’s Player of the Month award after Travis Head’s victory in November 2023.

Cummins unforgettable moment came during the second Test in Melbourne, where his ten-wicket haul, including a crucial five for the second innings, played a decision role in Australia’s dramatic win.

Refelecting on the achievement, captain expressed gratitude for the team’s collective effort and looked ahead to upcoming series against West Indies and New Zealand.

“It’s been a great year for the team across all formats, and to cap it off with a strong performance against a challenging Pakistan side was a nice way to finish 2023. Overall, we are very pleased with the summer so far and looking ahead to the West Indies and New Zealand series,” Cummins said.

Cummins have also became the seventh Australian to claim 250 wickets in Test cricket. His match-winning performance, rewarded with the Player of the Month award, ensured Australia’s victory in the series. This victory propelled Australia back to the top place in Tests.

Australian won the next match by 8 wickets, clean-sweeping Pakistan 3-0. Cummins was awarded the Player of the Series, for packing 19 wickets against PAK.

Pat Cummins was then roped in for a massive bid of Rs 20.50 crore by SunRisers Hyderabad franchise in the IPL 2024 mini-auction held in Dubai.

Cummins will now gear up to face West Indies in a two-match Test series, with the first match set to be played at the Adelaide Oval, starting January 17.
