Pathan’s Reply about Myth To Manjrekar’s Remark on Rohit and Virat: After the World Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have told to BCCI that they are not going to play T20Is and ODIs for some time.

India has already begun their preparations for the T20 World Cup next year in 2024 after a win against Australia in the T20I series. India won the T20I series against Australia, by winning 4 matches out of 5 matches.

Speaking to Star Sports, Majrekar feels that the return of Rohit and Virat to T20I cricket depends entirely on their form in the format. He explained that Virat Kohli has to prove himself against the likes of the Young batters that are picked for the T20I Australian series.

“We are maybe playing slightly different cricket in the final stages of World Cups. When something goes out of your hand, simplify it. Pick your team based on form close to the World Cup,”

“Virat Kohli will have to show that he is a better option than the youngsters who are playing currently, and Rohit Sharma as T20 batter and captain vs Hardik Pandya, the T20 batter, all-rounder, and captain.”

Along with Manjrekar, as Pathan is also a part of that discussion he disagrees with Manjrekar’s words about Virat and Rohit. And explained that to prove it is right to disagree with an example of the 2007 T20 World Cup.

T20 World Cup 2007 was played under the captaincy of MS Dhoni breaking the myth that a young team won the trophy in 200, he said that.

“I feel the Indian team should combine experience and youth. When we won the last T20 World Cup, in 2007, many said it was a young and inexperienced team that won the title, but that wasn’t it.

Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir had been playing for a while then. Me and Dhoni were also part of the team for almost four years. There was also Ajit Agarkar, Yuvraj Singh, and Harbhajan Singh as well.

So you have to combine experience with youth, especially for those conditions where batting gets a bit tricky.”

Majrekar concluded by saying about the T20 WC 2007,

“I agree with experience but if you remember that T20 World Cup win, it was Joginder Sharma who won that final for us.”
