Indian player Shreyas Iyer said that he has been longing to bowl at the highest level but also revealed the reasons behind not being able to do so. He underwent a back surgery earlier this year and has to miss international cricket for some time.

Shreyas Iyer returned to India’s T20I side after a long break and played the T20Is against Australia recently. He also played a prominent role in India’s victory in the 5th and final T20I match.

“I have been longing to bowl, but the strength and conditioning coaches, they are right ‘Now you are not going to bowl for some time’. That’s the sad part of it,” Shreyas said after the match.

Shreyas has only bowled 7.3 overs in international cricket and has given away 43 runs. In first class, he picked up 10 wickets. As far as batting is concerned, he was impressive in the 5th and final T20I on Sunday.

Shreyas was also decent with his fielding after he took a couple of catches to dismiss Aaron Hardie and Matthew Wade. He is all set to travel to South Africa where India will play a T20I, Test and ODI series.
