No Difference: Vijay Shankar compares Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya’s Captaincy Styles

IPL 2024: Gujarat Titans all-rounder Vijay Shankar compared Shubman Gill’s leadership styles with former skipper Hardik Pandya, saying there is absolutely no difference. LSG beat GT by 33 runs at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

During the LSG post-match press conference, Shankar emphasized that there’s no difference in the captaincy styles of Gill and Hardik. He emphasised the importance of team character and players stepping up in challenging moments. The defeat against LSG marked the first loss for the GT against LSG in IPL history.

“Absolutely no difference. The only difference is if we’d won today’s game or the last game, things would have looked different. Otherwise, we batted well in the last matches and bowled well in this match. It’s just a collective thing, we can bring up both things together in one game, and that’s when we’ll start winning. That’s what we missed in the last two games.”

“We won two of our first three games. Winning is very important for everyone and we’re trying our best. Sometimes to cross the line, you need extra things and I’m sure the way we’ve worked with the team management, we’ll do well as a team. It’s just about showing character and raising our hands in difficult situations. We’ve lost a few matches but it’s not the end of the road for us. It’s a very long tournament.”

Present 7th place in the IPL 2024 points table. Gujarat finds themselves in a challenging position as they strive to regain momentum in the tournament.
