Aakash Chopra slams English media for not addressing England woes

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has slammed the English media for not addressing England’s troubles instead portraying that they gave India a close run in the series.

In a lengthy statement on his official Twitter account, Aakash Chopra has slammed the English media for not addressing the ‘elephant in the room’, England’s middle-order woes after the series loss to team India.

England’s batting order collapsed in Ranchi on day three as they went from 110 for 3 to 145 all out, giving India a target of 192 to chase. Despite a stutter in between, Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel guided India with 5 wickets remaining to seal the series.

Chopra tweeted that England lost critical phases in the series. The former cricketer went on to say that the English media. However, just wants to portray that Ben Stokes and his men gave a close fight to the Indian team.
Chopra feels that the England middle-order has capitulated on good pitches, which led to their failure.

“England lost many ‘critical’ phases in this Test series where they needed to simply consolidate their position. Phases where they needed to build on the advantage. But that’s not the narrative that sellsâ€æwhat sells with the British media is that ‘Nobody gave us a chance’ ‘Nobody beats India in India’ and ‘Seeâ€æwe ran them close’. English middle-order (barring Pope and Root in one innings each) has capitulated on good pitches. Address that elephant in the room for that first admit that there’s an elephant in the room,” said Chopra.

Chopra’s analysis of England’s middle order is pretty accurate as most of them have struggled apart from a few knocks. Ollie Pope scored 196 in the Hyderabad but only has 285 runs from 8 innings. Joe Root was able to get 122 in the Ranchi Test but also managed to score 210 runs in the series.
