Brian Lara Raises Doubts Against Virat Kohli’s Ability: As we all know, Kohli recently surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI century with his 50th ODI ton in the World Cup 2023. Former legendary West Indies cricketer raises doubts on Virat Kohli of reaching Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 centuries milestone.

West Indies captain Brian Lara has weighed on the debate, expressing about Kohli’s chances.

Can Virat Kohli Reach Sachin’s 100 Centuries Milestone?

Indian Cricket Icon Sachin Tendulkar, has made 49 centuries in the ODI, 51 centuries in test cricket, and he solely made 100 centuries. Till now no one has reached Sachin’s record but Kohli is the one who came nearer to it as he recently surpassed 50 centuries in ODI WC 2023.

So, recently Anandabazar Patrika asked Lara about this matter then he spoke about Kohli’s age and the sheer magnitude of the tasks, based on these key factors he said that it is very tough to reach as his age is 39.

If he wants to match Sachin then he needs to cover five centuries per year, in the next four years. Read out below in his own words.

“Kohli’s current age is 35, right? With 80 centuries to his name, he still requires 20 more. If he manages to score five centuries annually, it would take him an additional four years to match Tendulkar.

By that time, Kohli will be 39. It’s a challenging task, a very tough one.”

Legendary Cricketer Brian Lara also added that,

“Can’t say with certainty, no one can. Those saying Kohli will break Tendulkar’s 100-centuries record won’t be taking cricketing logic into account. 20 centuries seem a long way away.

Most cricketers can’t score that in their entire career. I won’t be adventurous and say Kohli will do it.”

Finally, Lara concluded by wishing Kohli best wishes and termed himself as a fan of Virat Kohli.

“Age doesn’t stop for anyone. Kohli will break many more records, but 100 centuries seems the most difficult one. My best wishes are with him. 

I’d be very happy if he could score 100 centuries like Tendulkar. Sachin was a dear friend, and like I said before, I’m a big fan of Kohli.”
