Watch: LSG players and support staff cover KL Rahul with cake as part of his birthday celebrations

Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul received the traditional cake smash from his teammates as he turned 32, on Thursday. A day before locking horns with CSK at the Ekana Stadium, the franchise shared a clip of their captain’s birthday celebrations on Instagram.

KL Rahul cut his birthday cake at the team hotel and fed the first piece to the head coach, Justin Langer. And then began the party as the LSG players painted Rahul’s face with the delicious icing on the cake. The skipper knew that there wasn’t any escape route as he humbly took out his t-shirt, allowing his teammates to put the cake all over his body.

KL Rahul had decent this season with 204 runs in 6 matches. LSG conceded a defeat in their previous match against KKR.

Despite a 39-run knock from the skipper. LSG could manage a total of 161 in the first innings. An unbeaten 89-run knock from KKR opener Phil Salt in the second innings saw the two-time winners run away with an eight-wicket victory.

The LSG will next face champions CSK on Friday. Playing at their home at Ekana Sports Stadium, KL Rahul will be aiming for a 4th win in the tournament.
