Mitchell Marsh Breaks His Silence on ‘Feet on World Cup Trophy’ Controversy: Weeks after Australia secured World Cup 2023 victory there was the controversy that Australian cricketer Mitchell Marsh had put his foot on the World Cup trophy. With this, he faced severe criticism from the fans and many cricketers.

After Australia won their sixth ODI World Cup 2023 against India at Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday in Ahmedabad, there was an Instagram picture has went viral and also into controversy was posted by Mitchell Marsh.

In that picture, Marsh would be seen resting his feet on the World Cup Trophy hurting many of the fans, including Mohammad Shami. He also posted on Twitter by saying that he was hurt by Marsh’s gesture.

Even after he has faced so much criticism Marsh has not said anything about that, but finally, after two weeks he spoke about that when he was interviewed with SEN Radio.

Responding to all that criticism and controversy, Mitchell has answered SEN Radio that,

“There was no disrespect meant in that photo at all. I haven’t given it too much thought, I haven’t seen a lot on social media even though everyone tells me it’s gone off. There’s nothing in that.”

32 Year Old Mitchell has insisted that there is no disrespect shown that caused a stir in viral celebration.

And also speaking to them, Marsh has already reached Australia, but as some of his friends are in India for the T20I series, he has shown some disappointment as they were unable to celebrate the post World Cup celebrations.

“Yeah it was pretty outrageous for the guys that had to stay behind. It’s a fine line because we’ve got to respect the fact we’re playing for Australia and it’s a series against India which is always really big,” he added.

“But there’s also the human side of it, the boys have just won a World Cup and probably deserve to celebrate for a while and get home to their families. It’s an interesting one. You’d hope there’s not too many of those series put on after big tournaments again.”

“I celebrated for the six guys who stayed behind, I celebrated for them,” Marsh concluded.
